With the summerquickly coming it’s time to make your garden the place to be. Put in the work now and you’ll be able to sit back and enjoy those precious moments of sunshine throughout the school term. Whether you have a large garden or a petite yard, these outdoor updates will make you and your children fall in love with your garden a little more.

Lighting

With lighting in the garden you can create a magical and beautifully cosy environment. You can hang fairly lights from trees, or place lanterns down the garden path and place them in the flower beds for instant ambience.

Area to relax for the kids

Give the kids a dedicated area. Create a cosy retreat that’s perfect for lazy afternoon naps by laying out scatter cushions or an outdoor bean bags - or hanging hammocks. The kids will more likely spend more time outside if they have an area of the garden that's reserved just for them.

Water fun

A paddling pool along with some water guns, and water balloons can offer hours of fun in the garden. Kids love water, especially in the warm weather. By keeping a good array of water toys in the garden it will surely pull them outdoors time and time again.

Garden furniture for the kids

Standard garden furniture is fine, but for the kids giving their own children garden furniture is cool - Their own chair and table, somewhere when they can sit and eat, chat and play.

Planting area

Another fantastic way to encourage your children to embrace the garden is by giving them the chance to grow their own plants. Set aside a section of your plant pot, flower bed or vegetable patch, and allow them to grow whatever they so wish.  Supplying them with their own set of gardening tools is also a great idea.

I don't know about you. But we’re planning on spending as much time outdoors as we can, whether that be in the garden or out and about.
