Where’s Wally Activity Books Review – Searching, Colouring and Family Fun
Where’s Wally? has been entertaining children and adults since the 1980s, and it’s one of those childhood favourites that has continued to be popular across generations.
I've bought Where's Wally books for my boys many times over the years, but until we received these books to review, I hadn't come across the activity versions before.
They take everything we love about the traditional Where's Wally books and add even more to keep children, and grown-ups! entertained.
Where's Wally Activity and Colouring Books
The paperback activity books we received were A4-sized and packed with 64 pages of Where's Wally fun.
Fans of the original books will immediately recognise the wonderfully busy scenes. There are double-page illustrations filled with people, objects and tiny details, giving you plenty to search through as you hunt for Wally and his friends.
There are also checklists to help you discover even more hidden characters and objects within each scene.
It's amazing how long you can spend studying one picture and still manage to spot something you hadn't noticed before!
Where's Wally Colouring Fun
The colouring book adds another element to the traditional Where's Wally search.
Some of the illustrations already contain little splashes of colour, whether that's a coloured object, character or part of the background. Children can use these as inspiration when deciding how to colour the rest of the scene.
Of course, you don't have to follow the traditional colours, you can get creative and make the pictures as colourful as you like.
And there's double the fun because you can search for Wally while you're colouring the page!
There are also written hints on some of the pages, suggesting characters to find or colours to use, along with opportunities for children to add some drawings of their own.
Where's Wally Adventures Through Time and Space
We also received Where's Wally in Outer Space and Where's Wally Across Lands, giving us even more adventures to explore.
The books take Wally through different places, periods of history and imaginative worlds, with wonderfully detailed scenes featuring everything from cavemen, Ancient Rome and Vikings to samurai, pirates, the Wild West and even a space colony.
There's so much happening on every page that they're the sort of books you can return to again and again.
Fun for Children and Adults
One of the things I've always liked about Where's Wally is that it isn't necessarily just for children.
There's something strangely satisfying about searching through a ridiculously busy picture trying to spot that familiar red-and-white striped jumper, and adults can easily find themselves just as determined to find him as the kids!
The activity books add colouring, drawing and extra challenges into the mix, making them ideal for quiet afternoons at home, rainy days, holidays or travelling.
What We Thought
We had lots of fun with the Where's Wally activity books.
They combine the familiar searching fun of the original books with colouring and other activities, giving children plenty to keep them occupied while encouraging concentration, observation and creativity.
If you already have a Where's Wally fan in the family, these activity books are a lovely way to enjoy Wally's adventures in a slightly different way.
And be warned, once you start searching for Wally, it's surprisingly difficult to give up until you've found him!
If you're looking for a simple game that gets the whole family talking, laughing, and occasionally debating some very silly questions, then the Would You Rather Family Edition Game is definitely worth considering.
As a family, we are always on the lookout for games that don't take ages to set up and that everyone can join in with, regardless of age. Between busy family life, health challenges, and trying to find activities that don't involve another screen, this game has become one of those easy go-to options that we can pull out whenever we fancy spending some time together.
