Rediscovering Angel Delight With My Children
Angel Delight was my favourite dessert growing up, but I somehow stopped buying it after leaving home. Trying the Bubblegum flavour gave me a chance to rediscover it with my children and remember why I loved this simple pudding, especially butterscotch.
Angel Delight was my favourite dessert growing up. I loved it, especially butterscotch, and it was the pudding I always hoped we would have.
Somehow, after leaving home, I stopped buying it. I cannot remember making a decision about it. It simply disappeared from my shopping basket, and I had not thought about it for years.
The Angel Delight Moments Challenge gave me a reason to try it again and introduce it to my children for the first time. I was pleased to find that it went down very well with them too.
My Favourite Childhood Flavour
Butterscotch was always my first choice. I remember it as a treat, even though it was such a simple dessert to make.
That was part of its appeal when I rediscovered it. I did not need a long list of ingredients or much preparation. I could make something enjoyable with milk, a whisk and a bowl.
Sharing it with my children also brought back memories of enjoying it when I was younger. It was lovely to introduce them to something that had been a favourite of mine.
Trying Bubblegum Angel Delight
For the challenge, I was sent the Bubblegum flavour to try.
It was different from the butterscotch I remembered, but the flavour certainly matched its name. I found it sweet and recognisably bubblegum flavoured.
At the time of my original post, the packet included instructions for making either the usual spoonable dessert or a milkshake. I liked having both options from the same mix.
A Simple Dessert to Make Together
I appreciated how little I needed to get started. With milk, a bowl and a whisk, I could follow the packet instructions without turning dessert into a complicated task.
I am not someone who needs every pudding to involve lots of preparation. Sometimes I just want something straightforward that we can enjoy together.
The challenge gave me an opportunity to be a little creative with the Bubblegum flavour, but the simplicity was still what I liked most. It was an easy way to bring a childhood favourite back into our home.
The Flavours I Remembered
Alongside Bubblegum, the flavours listed when I wrote my original post included Banana, Butterscotch, Chocolate, Raspberry and Strawberry. There was also a no added sugar range.
The Bubblegum packet I received was described as suitable for vegetarians and made with natural colourings. These details relate to the product at the time of the original review.
Although I enjoyed trying something different, butterscotch remained the flavour I associated most strongly with my childhood.
Bringing Angel Delight Back Into My Life
I am glad the Angel Delight Moments Challenge reminded me of a dessert I had almost forgotten.
Introducing it to my children was a lovely part of the experience. I got to share something I had enjoyed growing up, and they enjoyed discovering it for themselves.
It reminded me that a treat does not have to be elaborate. Sometimes milk, a whisk and a familiar packet are enough.
I received the Bubblegum Angel Delight for the Angel Delight Moments Challenge. These are my own thoughts, based on my experience of trying it with my children.
I added a treat in the bottom - Lewis loves meringue
Lewis LOVES meringue, and he loves desserts, so I made his very own meringue coated in Angel Delight with a sprinkle
Violet Crystals
A dish of goodies.
Bubblegum Angel Delight went down a treat with the boys and Summer, they enjoyed the fun and unique taste - I can't wait to buy the other flavours and try these out on the kids.
