Bright Horizon’s Family Recipes Book - Fruit Smoothie

This weekend, we had some kitchen fun with the kids.

It's so much fun in the kitchen with your kids, whether you bake a cake with them, or make a simple smoothie, they enjoy it very much, and the best part is.. it teaches them life skills.

So what have we been making in the kitchen this weekend?

Bright Horizon in their Family Recipe book, share recipes that are perfect to make with your children at home. They sent us a copy of the Recipe book, along with a super cool apron for the kids to keep them from getting too messy whilst in the kitchen.

Who are Bright Horizon? 

Bright Horizons nursery in Highbury was founded over 20 years ago to provide an innovative solution to the lack of affordable, high-quality, childcare for working families. The have over 200 nurseries in the UK and Ireland and are the UK's leading nursery network.

I invited the kids to look through the recipe book to chose which recipe they would like to make. They chose the Fruit Smoothie, hence, we made one following the clear instructions in the Bright Horizon's family Recipe Book. 

Ingredients we used:

• 2 Apples

• 2 Bananas

• 2 Large Oranges

• 2 slices of tinned Pineapple

• a handful of Raspberries

We diced all the fruit up, placed it in our smoothie maker, mixed it all up and once smooth, poured it into a glass, added a straw and drank.

Such a simple but effective smoothie recipe, it tasted lovely. We're going to make it again soon, but the add ice in

For the soft fruit Summer used a normal table knife to dice it up. The harder fruit, I used a sharper knife.

We pilled all the fruit in to the cup to put on the smoothie maker.

I've never made a smoothie without using yogurt or juice before and wasn't sure how it would come out, but with all the juicy fruits we used in the simple recipe, the smoothie was perfect. Both Summer and I shared and enjoyed our smoothie.
