Jacob Turned 6

Jacob loves to pull a funny face when I am trying to take a photo of him.

I remember the day finding out I was pregnant, it only seems like yesterday, yet here we are years later, celebrating Jacob's 6th Birthday - my baby boy is not a baby anymore, he is not even a toddler, he is now 6.

As we filled out the party invites together, I was staring at him with love and pride and wondering how is it possible that my baby has grown up so damn quickly. And, just how it is with his older brothers, watching Jacob grow up has been an amazing journey; one that I feel extremely lucky to have, and one I look forward to each and every day - hoping every day for it not to go too quick.

He is more mature than his two older brothers at this age, but this is down to him watching and learning from them I suppose.  Then when Summer came to live with us, he became a big brother.

Through these moments, why does my heart feel so full heavy and my chest feel so tight?  I am both lucky and blessed with great kids.  I know they have to grow up.  I just never expected it to feel so fast! Jacob is only 6, but my oldest son is 15 - The worry that they are growing up too quick never gets any easier; the slight panic that the years are slipping by, desperately trying to cling to every memory and milestone, desperately trying to capture every moment, to never miss a thing.

For his 6th, Jacob wanted a party and after a few ideas, he finally settled on a bowling party. He had a great time, all his friends came, they played, they laughed, they had fun.

His friend drew Jacob this picture and put it in his card, which I thought was a lovely idea - Jacob loved it.
