Pull My Finger Game Review
Last month was a challenging one for our family. Both my husband and I became ill, with my husband spending time bedridden and me ending up in hospital. It wasn't an easy few weeks for any of us, especially the children.
When you're a parent, being unwell comes with a huge dose of guilt. You worry about all the things you can't do, the plans you've had to cancel, and how much your children are missing out on while you're trying to recover. Finding simple ways to keep the kids entertained can make a big difference during those difficult times.
One thing that always works well in our house is a good family board game. They're a great way to spend time together without relying on screens, and they often create some of the best family memories. Recently, we've been playing Pull My Finger, and it has provided plenty of laughs when we needed them most.
What Is Pull My Finger?
If you've never come across it before, Pull My Finger is a simple family game centred around a cheeky monkey with a rather unusual talent... he farts!
As you can probably imagine, that alone was enough to make my children instantly excited. Children seem to find fart jokes endlessly entertaining, so a game built around one was always going to be a hit in our house.
I had actually planned on buying Pull My Finger as a Christmas gift, so I was delighted when we were given the opportunity to review it instead.
What's Included?
Inside the box you'll find:
1 Monkey
2 Monkey Butts
1 Monkey Tail
1 Spinner
The game is quick to set up, which is always a bonus when you're playing with younger children who are eager to get started.
How To Play
The rules are incredibly simple, making it suitable for a wide range of ages.
Players take turns spinning the spinner and following the instructions shown. Depending on where the spinner lands, you'll need to pull the monkey's finger a certain number of times.
Every pull causes the monkey's inflatable bottom to expand a little more. The tension builds as players wait to see what happens next, because at any moment the valve can release and the monkey lets out a loud fart.
If the monkey farts during your turn, you're out of that round. The last player remaining is the winner.
It's an easy concept to understand, which means children can start playing almost immediately without needing lots of explanation.
What Did We Think?
The biggest success of Pull My Finger is how much laughter it generated.
Although the game itself is quite simple, it has that "just one more go" factor that kept the children coming back for another round. The games are short and fast-paced, which helps keep everyone's attention and prevents younger players from becoming bored.
Watching the children giggle uncontrollably every time the monkey farted was a highlight. Sometimes the simplest games are the most entertaining, and this is definitely one of those.
Our youngest initially struggled to pull the monkey's finger hard enough to inflate the monkey's bottom properly, but with a little help from an older sibling, it quickly became easier. Before long, both children were fully involved and enjoying the game together.
Perfect For Family Game Nights
One thing I particularly liked was how accessible the game is. There's no complicated strategy, lengthy instructions, or long playing time. It's simply about having fun together and sharing a few laughs.
Whether you're looking for a game for family game night, something to entertain the children during school holidays, or a gift for a child who enjoys silly humour, Pull My Finger ticks all the boxes.
Final Verdict
Pull My Finger is a fun, light-hearted family game that delivers exactly what it promises. The simple gameplay, quick rounds, and hilarious farting monkey provide plenty of entertainment for children and adults alike.
It may not be the most sophisticated board game on the market, but if you're looking for something guaranteed to make children laugh, it's hard to go wrong. It has certainly been a hit in our house and helped bring a little fun and laughter during a difficult few weeks.
