Summer has been a massive L.O.L. Surprise! fan for quite some time, and over the years she's built up quite the collection of dolls and accessories.
So, when we were given the chance to try the L.O.L. Surprise! Movie Maker App, I knew she'd be excited!
Summer has always loved being creative, especially when it comes to singing and making up her own little stories. An app that combines her favourite dolls with the chance to create her very own musical movies sounded right up her street.
And I wasn't wrong!
What Is the L.O.L. Surprise! Movie Maker App?
The L.O.L. Surprise! Movie Maker App lets children bring their favourite L.O.L. characters to life by creating their own little animated movies.
They can choose different characters, backgrounds, props, pets and music tracks before recording their own voices to tell a story or even sing a song.
It's such a fun idea, especially for children who love imaginative play.
Rather than simply watching something on a screen, they're actually creating their own entertainment, which I really like.
And, of course, for Summer, being able to make her own L.O.L. Surprise! music videos was the best part!
How Does the L.O.L. Surprise! Movie Maker App Work?
One of the first things I noticed was just how easy the app was to use.
Summer picked it up almost straight away and was happily creating her own little movies without needing much help from me.
The layout is simple and child-friendly, with everything clearly set out so little ones can find their way around.
Creating a movie is pretty straightforward, too.
First, you choose a background and set up your scene. You can then drag your favourite L.O.L. characters into position, add props and accessories, and even include pets.
There are also different music tracks to choose from, which is brilliant if your little one enjoys putting on a performance!
Once everything is in place, you press the record button and start bringing your story to life.
Children can record their own voices, make their characters talk or sing along to create their very own L.O.L. Surprise! musical masterpiece.
When the movie is finished, you simply press the finish flag.
This brings up a little movie clapperboard where you can give your creation a title and add the creator's name.
You can then watch your finished movie back and share it.
Summer absolutely loved seeing her own creations come together!
Unlocking New Characters and Accessories
Another fun feature of the app is being able to unlock new content as you play.
When you first start, you only have a limited selection of characters, backgrounds and accessories to choose from.
But don't worry, there's plenty more to discover!
Each day you log in, you can collect new surprises, and the more movies you create, the more coins you earn.
Once you've collected 1,000 coins, you can exchange them for a surprise capsule containing new scenes, characters and accessories.
And if there's one thing L.O.L. fans love, it's opening a surprise!
Summer was over the moon when she started unlocking new L.O.L. Fierce characters, and she particularly enjoyed logging in each day to see which new character or accessory she could collect.
Before long, she was building up quite the little crew!
What Did Summer Think of the App?
I think it's safe to say the L.O.L. Surprise! Movie Maker App was a big hit!
When I asked Summer what she liked most about it, she didn't hesitate.
Being able to record her own voice and sing!
She absolutely loved making her own music videos, choosing her favourite characters and creating little performances.
It was lovely seeing her imagination at work, and she had so much fun experimenting with different scenes and stories.
She also really enjoyed the daily surprises and unlocking new characters.
Although, I must admit, there was one little thing she found frustrating!
She wanted more coins, and she wanted them quickly!
While you could earn coins by creating movies, there was also the option to purchase more through in-app purchases.
Naturally, Summer would have liked to unlock everything straight away, but she soon realised she'd have to keep making more movies to earn her next surprise capsule.
At least it gave her something to work towards!
Is the L.O.L. Surprise! Movie Maker App Worth Trying?
If your little one loves L.O.L. Surprise! dolls and enjoys making up stories, singing or being creative, this is certainly an app worth looking into.
What I particularly liked was that it encouraged Summer to use her imagination.
She wasn't just tapping away at a game. She was choosing characters, planning scenes, recording her voice and putting together her own little movies.
And because there were new characters and accessories to unlock, she always had something else to look forward to.
The app was easy for her to navigate independently, which was another big plus.
The only thing I'd recommend keeping an eye on is the in-app purchases, particularly if your child is anything like Summer and wants to unlock all the surprises at once!
Our Final Thoughts
Overall, the L.O.L. Surprise! Movie Maker App was a lovely way for Summer to combine two of her favourite things – L.O.L. Surprise! dolls and singing!
She had so much fun creating her own little musical movies, experimenting with different characters and discovering new surprises along the way.
It's always nice to find something that encourages children to be creative, and this certainly kept Summer entertained.
If you've got an L.O.L. Surprise! fan at home, I can imagine they'd have just as much fun bringing their favourite characters to life.
