House of Fraser Children’s Clothing Review

I used to associate House of Fraser with good quality clothing and prices that might be more than I wanted to spend on the children.

With four children to buy for, I have to think carefully about clothing costs. They grow quickly, but I still want their clothes to cope with regular wear and washing until they outgrow them.

I am looking for a balance between quality and price. Some cheaper clothes I have bought in the past have lost their shape or shrunk after only a couple of washes, which made them feel like less of a bargain.

When I was invited to choose clothing for Jacob from House of Fraser, I was interested to see what I could find within a £30 budget.

Finding Clothes Within My Budget

Browsing the website took me longer than I expected because there was more choice within my budget than I had anticipated.

Alongside the more expensive designer pieces, I found reasonably priced children’s clothing, with options ranging from baby clothes through to clothing for teenagers.

I spent a few hours looking through the range and comparing items before choosing two pieces for Jacob. It was reassuring to find that my budget gave me a choice rather than limiting me to one item.

Choosing Comfortable Clothes for Jacob

At the time, Jacob was going through a phase of wanting to wear only loose fitting trousers. Comfort was important to him, so I wanted to choose something he would enjoy wearing.

I settled on a pair of Bench jogging bottoms and a blue and white striped T shirt.

The jogging bottoms were available in grey or navy. They seemed a sensible choice for Jacob’s preference for a looser fit, and the T shirt gave me something to pair with them.

I was pleased to find both pieces within the £30 allowance.

How the Clothes Held Up to Washing

The real test for me came after Jacob had worn the clothes and they had been through the wash several times.

I wanted them to keep their shape and still look good. I had been disappointed by other purchases in the past, so this mattered more to me than how the clothes looked when they first arrived.

Jacob wore both pieces often, and I washed them regularly. At the point of writing my original review, I was pleased to find that they still looked as good as new.

That gave me more confidence in the value of the purchase. I was buying clothes to be worn, rather than saved for occasional outings, and these were getting plenty of use.

What Jacob Thought of the Jogging Bottoms

The Bench jogging bottoms were a particular success with Jacob. He loved them enough that I planned to order another pair in navy.

For me, that was a good sign that I had chosen well. I wanted trousers that suited his need for comfort, and these became something he was happy to wear regularly.

I hoped both pieces would see him through the spring and summer, provided he did not have a sudden growth spurt. I could not control how quickly he grew, but I was pleased with how the clothes were holding up.

My Overall Thoughts on House of Fraser Children’s Clothing

This experience changed my assumption that House of Fraser children’s clothing would always be outside my budget.

I found two pieces for £30 that Jacob enjoyed wearing and that coped well with frequent washing. That was the balance I had been looking for.

My experience relates to these particular items and the prices available when I wrote the original review. I would still compare prices and check individual products, but I was pleased with the quality and value of the clothes I chose.

I was invited to select clothing for Jacob from House of Fraser up to the value of £30. These are my own thoughts, based on how the items were worn and washed.
