Review: Daisy Dreams Gro To Bed Bedding for Cot Beds
Summer loves her bed.
She loves being tucked in tightly, having her teddy cuddled up next to her and getting all cosy before drifting off to sleep. Bedtime is usually lovely and peaceful, but there was one little problem that was becoming rather less enjoyable for me.
If Summer happened to kick her quilt off during the night, she would wake up, sit herself up and start whinging or crying until I got up and tucked her back in again.
And when I say during the night, I mean it could be 2am, 3am or any other ridiculous hour when I really would rather still be asleep!
It became a bit of a routine. Summer would kick the covers off, wake up because she was cold, and then I would have to get out of bed and go and tuck her back in. Of course, once I had tucked her in again, she was perfectly happy and would settle back down.
I, on the other hand, was wide awake.
So when I was asked if I would like to review the Daisy Dreams Gro To Bed bedding for cot beds, I jumped at the chance.
It sounded like exactly what we needed.
What Is Gro To Bed Bedding?
The Gro To Bed bedding set is an all in one bedding set designed for toddlers who are making the transition from a cot to a bed.
The set includes an all in one duvet cover, a fitted mattress sheet and a fitted pillowcase, so you have everything you need to create a cosy little bed.
What really caught my attention was the clever design of the duvet cover.
Rather than having a separate duvet that can be kicked off and end up on the floor, the duvet cover is attached to the fitted sheet. There are zips down either side which keep everything securely in place.
For us, this sounded like a brilliant idea.
No More 3am Tucking In
One of the biggest reasons I wanted to try the Gro To Bed bedding was simply because I was fed up with getting up in the middle of the night.
I know that sounds like such a little thing, but when you are already tired, those interrupted nights really do add up.
Summer is a very wriggly sleeper. She moves around, fidgets and shuffles about quite a lot while she is asleep, so it was no surprise that her quilt would eventually end up somewhere other than on her bed.
With the Gro To Bed bedding, the duvet stays attached to the fitted sheet, meaning Summer can move around without managing to throw the whole thing onto the floor.
And that makes such a difference.
She can still move around and get comfortable, but the bedding moves with her.
A Sweet Daisy Dreams Design
We chose the Daisy Dreams design, which I think is absolutely gorgeous.
It has a sweet ditsy vintage style flower print all over it, and Summer loves anything flowery, so it was always going to be a winner with her.
I think choosing bedding that your child actually likes can make such a difference too. Summer was excited about her new bedding and loved seeing all the little flowers on her bed.
It made her bed feel special and gave it that lovely cosy feel that makes bedtime just a little bit nicer.
100% Cotton and Lovely Quality
The Gro To Bed bedding is made from 100% cotton.
I found the material to be lightweight while still feeling sturdy and well made. It feels comfortable and snug without being overly heavy, which is particularly important when you have a child who likes to wriggle around in their sleep.
I was also pleased with how it washed.
Let's be honest, children's bedding needs to be able to cope with regular washing, and I always want to know that something is going to come out of the washing machine looking just as good as it did before.
The bedding washed up well and still looked fresh afterwards.
There Is Still Room to Move
One thing I really liked about the Gro To Bed design is that although the duvet is kept securely in place, Summer isn't restricted.
She still has enough room to move around in her sleep and shuffle herself into a comfortable position.
There is also enough room for her to move out from underneath the covers if she gets too hot.
This was important to me because I wouldn't want her to feel trapped underneath her bedding. The idea is to keep the covers on the bed, not stop her from moving around.
And of course, there is still room for her teddy.
Teddy is a very important part of bedtime in our house!
Summer loves having her teddy cuddled up beside her, and there is plenty of room for them both.
Does Summer Like Her New Bedding?
Yes!
Summer really does love it.
She likes being tucked into bed and having everything feeling cosy around her, and the Gro To Bed bedding seems to give her that snug and secure feeling she enjoys.
I also love the fact that when I tuck her in at bedtime, I know the duvet is much less likely to end up on the floor a few hours later.
It means I am not lying in bed wondering whether I am going to be woken up by a little voice asking me to come and tuck her back in.
And if I am completely honest, anything that potentially gives me a better night's sleep has my vote!
Perfect for Toddlers Moving to a Bed
I think the Gro To Bed bedding is a really clever idea for toddlers who are moving from a cot into a cot bed or bed.
The transition from a cot to a bed can be a big change for a little one. They suddenly have much more freedom to move around, and that can mean bedding ends up everywhere.
For children who tend to kick their covers off during the night, having the duvet attached to the fitted sheet seems like such a simple but effective solution.
It gives them the freedom to move around while helping to keep their bedding where it should be.
Our Daisy Dreams Gro To Bed Review
Overall, I was really impressed with the Daisy Dreams Gro To Bed bedding.
The quality is excellent, I love the pretty floral design and most importantly, Summer loves it.
For me, the biggest benefit is knowing that her duvet is going to stay on the bed rather than being kicked onto the floor during the night.
No more hearing her whinge at 2am because she is cold.
No more getting out of my nice warm bed to tuck her back in.
And hopefully, a little more sleep for me!
The Gro To Bed bedding set is available in a range of different patterns, so there should be something to suit lots of different tastes.
At the time of writing, the RRP was £49.99 and it was available to buy from the Gro To website.
For a toddler who loves to wriggle around in their sleep and regularly manages to kick their covers off, I think the Gro To Bed bedding is a really clever idea.
And anything that helps keep Summer cosy, comfortable and tucked up in bed while also helping me stay in my own bed throughout the night is definitely a winner in our house!
