Ravensburger Funny Bunny Board Game Review
We love a good family board game in our house, especially one that's easy to set up, simple enough for the kids to understand and still manages to get everyone laughing.
Funny Bunny from Ravensburger certainly ticked those boxes for us.
It's a simple but surprisingly addictive children's game where the aim is to get your little bunny safely to the top of the hill. Sounds easy enough – except the path is full of holes and one turn of the giant carrot can send your bunny disappearing!
How to Play Funny Bunny
Each player starts with four little plastic bunnies in the same colour.
On your turn, you take a card from the pile. If the card shows bunny footprints, you move one of your bunnies forward by the corresponding number of spaces.
But then there are the carrot cards...
Turn over one of these and you have to twist the large carrot at the top of the hill until it clicks.
This changes the path and opens up one of the holes – and if your bunny happens to be standing in the wrong place at the wrong time, down it goes!
Cue plenty of laughter from everyone else around the table.
Watch Out for the Holes!
The moving holes are what make Funny Bunny so entertaining.
You never quite know which bunny is going to disappear when someone turns the carrot, so even if you're racing ahead, your position can quickly change.
Players can jump over spaces already occupied by another bunny, which adds another little element of strategy when deciding which of your four bunnies to move.
Lose a bunny down a hole and that particular bunny is out of the game. But as long as you still have others making their way up the hill, you're still in with a chance.
The first player to successfully get a bunny all the way to the top wins.
What's Included in Funny Bunny?
Our Funny Bunny game included:
1 green hill with a rotating carrot
16 coloured bunny playing pieces
24 playing cards
The game is designed for 2–4 players and recommended for children aged 5 years and over.
We also found the board really quick and straightforward to set up, which is always a bonus when you have children eager to start playing!
A Fun Family Board Game
Funny Bunny quickly became one of those games we could pull out when friends came round and everyone could get involved.
The best moments were always when someone turned over a carrot card.
There would be lots of anticipation as they slowly turned the carrot, followed by laughter and clapping if someone's bunny suddenly disappeared down one of the holes.
And somehow, Jacob seemed to win nearly every time we played!
Whether that was down to skill or an extraordinary amount of bunny-related luck, I'm still not entirely sure.
What We Thought
Ravensburger Funny Bunny was a big hit with the kids.
The rules are easy to understand, games don't require lots of complicated preparation, and the unpredictable moving holes make every round a little different.
It's also one of those children's games that grown-ups can happily join in with, making it a great choice for family game time or when the kids have friends over.
Simple, silly and lots of fun – just watch where you leave your bunny when someone reaches for that carrot!
The kids loved it, and we had plenty of laughs playing it together.
