World Book Day

I'm an avid reader and lover of literacy and encourage my children to read, to discover the wonders of literacy, thus World Book Day is an excellent opportunity to get the kids excited about reading and writing.

Yesterday on social media we see lots of children celebrating and enjoying World book day, dressing up in their favourite characters, their schools embracing the annual event. Unfortunately, neither Summer's Nursery or Jacob's Primary school celebrated it with dress-up day - which is disappointing, Kids love non-school uniform day and getting to dress-up, so we celebrated it at home instead after school.

The outfits the kids picked were Thor, Snow White and Grim Reaper. Jacob, from the George at ASDA Website picked this fabulous Thor outfit, at £12.50, it is fantastic value, the costume is very well made and looks great. The mask and the cape are both included, and the outfit is fitted with a padded muscle effect.

Summer love's Snow White, her favourite book is Snow White, so I couldn't resist ordering her the Snow White outfit. The headband and the cape are both included, the outfit is made with sequins and glitter detail and the skirt has several layers to make it puff out, and the finished effect is beautiful. At just £12.50 again this is a great price. Lewis for his age was a bit limited with the range, but in the end he picked the Grim Reaper outfit, which he is pleased with, and will be reusing it for Halloween this year.

Did your school celebrate World Book Day with dressing up? What did you children dress up as?
