Cancun

My favourite holiday memory is a beautiful trip 8 years ago to Cancun, Mexico.

Cancun, a Mexican city bordering the Caribbean Sea; with warm weather throughout the year, turquoise sea, white beaches, and an energetic nightlife, Cancun is a vacationer's paradise. It’s composed of two areas: the more traditional downtown area, and then a long, beachfront strip of hotels, shops and restaurants.

The most popular time to visit is during the winter months December to May where you can enjoy the warm climate. But, during June to November, it's known as the hurricane season where you can expect hot and wet weather and sometimes wild weather.

We travelled as a family (we were a family of 4 back then) and with close friends to Cancun 8 years ago for a holiday of a lifetime. It was an extra special trip as my best friend of 30 years was getting married.

Cancun is known for its party nightlife, a favourite destination for North American's to visit during Spring Break, however, the destination offers much more than partying. Many hotels have designed their service to welcome families and it is a favourite for couples wanting a white sand, turquoise sea wedding on the beach, thus, this was my friends dream.

Cancun offered the perfect fun-filled, relaxing family holiday. We were able to all enjoy the perfect family holiday, along with friends with a dream wedding thrown in. We got to fulfil dreams and wishes, from swimming with dolphins to being a bridesmaid at my best friends beach wedding whilst the children enjoyed the complex and so much more: snorkelling, boat trips, horse riding and lots of swimming.

It is the one-holiday destination we would like to return too, especially now our family has expanded since then, with 2 more children - it would be perfect for us as a family, the beautiful Cancun has something for everyone.

The wedding was beautiful, it was perfect.
