Me and Mine: June 2018

I'm super excited to be taking part of the Me & Mine project for the first time. May this be the first of many.

June brought us joy and sorrow, as well as great memories.

After losing my Dad to cancer last year June was an emotional month for us. We had our first Father's Day without my father. We also had my brothers wedding, which was a lovely day, but my dad was very much missed. The speeches paid tribute to dad, my new sister-in-law placed a photo of dad in the church - he was very much there with us that day; we cried, laughed and shared memories.

The photo was taken at my brother's wedding and it includes all of us: hubby, myself and our four kids; it's extremely rare to get a photo with us all in it together, as you can see Summer wasn't too keen on standing nicely for a photo, hence her rather funny looking expression. I was super proud of my kids that day, as I am most days, but they especially looked very handsome and Summer was my beautiful little princess. There is nothing better than getting together with the whole family and close friends and celebrating together - it was a lovely day.

June also sees the start of Summer's SENSI occupational therapy journey. It was a positive first session, an hour in the swimming pool followed by an hour of holistic and complementary therapy. I spent the hour in the pool with her and supported her during the swim therapy session, and after she went and had her holistic hour, whilst I went and had a chat with one of the therapists.  It's the start of a long journey, but a positive one for Summer. I've not yet written on my blog about where or how we got here, I've only touched a bit on how Summer's past has affected her here, but I will be writing about it more.

What else happened?!

Lewis had his GCSE mock exams. He's pretty laid back about his looming exams, he felt he did good in his mocks, and now he's really looking forward to his work experience in July.

Also, not forgetting we spent quite a few days digging a very large hole in the back-garden to fit our brand new in-ground trampoline in! It's a huge hit with the kids (and dogs) - they love it. It looks so much tidier than the old trampoline.

July we are looking forward to the start of half-term, as well as hubby's birthday, and a holiday to Scotland!
