I love introducing new games to the children, especially games that can be played outdoors. And, Lawn Croquet is a classic and traditional game, one that the kids haven't played before. So I was super excited when were sent Garden Games Lawn Croquet set to review.  

Lawn Croquet is a simple but fun game.

It involves you to hit/tap your ball around the circuit of hoops in a specific order (diagram/directions given in the instructions booklet). You play in two teams, one team will be Blue and Black balls and the other team will be Red and Yellow balls. Each player takes alternate turns. You can strike either of their balls.

The first team to reach both of their balls through the 12 arches in the specific order and hit the wooden post is the winner -  with the Garden Games Lawn Croquet set, as there are only 6 arches included, you have to take the route/order twice round before attempting to hit the wooden post. - The rules I've explained are the basics, and there is much more involved in the game, but as a family, with the kids, I like to keep it simple.

Our poor garden is a building site at the moment with all the building work going on, so we've been taking the set down to the local park to play.  But, we are looking forward to being able to play it in our garden soon.

When I received the set the first thing I noted was how good of quality it was, and we couldn't wait to get it out and give it a go. It's a four-player set that is complete - everything you need to enjoy this game of skill. The included carry case allows you to transport the set around easily. Perfect for taking on camping trips, or trips out for the day, etc.

Each piece is well-made, robust and a good quality; the croquet arches are strong and sturdy which allows you to easily place into the ground and pull out without worry of it bowing or breaking.  The mallets are made from solid wood, and feel sturdy and secure and finally the balls are robust and solid - the mallets are a good size for adults to use as well, my hubby is 5'10" and played comfortably and without having to bend down too much.  The whole set is the perfect starter set designed for children, but can be played by adults too - thus, the perfect family croquet set.
