Ada Goth is the only child of Lord Goth. She lives with her father, a famous poet, in the enormous Ghastly-Gorm Hall. She spends the majority of her time alone. Her father avoids her as she reminds him of his deceased wife and he believes children should be heard and not seen, thus, Ada has to wear big plodding boots around the house so that he can hear her approaching.
Ada meets the ghost of a mouse called Ishmael. He was caught in a mouse trap and now fears he will spend eternity floating around Ghastly Ghorm Hall. Ada must help him remember what is keeping him from moving over. This is where Ada begins to unravel a dastardly plot that Maltravers, the mysterious indoor gamekeeper, is hatching.
We love reading in this household, and Goth Girl and the Ghost of a Mouse is a enjoyable fun read - with some laugh out loud moments. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it to my little girl. Throughout the book, it offers great illustrations to compliment the pages as you read.
