Self-Service Supermarket from Casdon

Summer loves role play and she loves playing 'shop worker', thus, I knew she would love the Casdon Self-Service Supermarket. And, she does!

The Casdon Self-Service Supermarket is an electronic till which has been designed to replicate todays self-contained, self-service checkouts! It comes packed with fun and realistic features which enhance the play experience.

We put it together with no problems; it took approx half an hour - mostly due to all the stickers that had to be stuck on, and also building the branded cardboard boxes. Once finished, I noticed the attention-to-detail given from the stickers, the play food, the till etc., all of which are great features; not forgetting the scanning noise it makes giving it a realistic feel.

As well as branded food which is easily recognised by Summer, and the play veg, it also comes with a pretty cool basket, which sits on the side of the Supermarket via a hook next to the scanner. So you can place your filled basket of play food on the hook, taking the items out one by one, scanning them, and then finally paying (with the included play coins and notes, and debit card). So much fun!

There are three different ways of paying with the Casdon Self-Service Supermarket:

  • notes - you insert the note/s in the slot
  • coins - you insert them into the slot for coins, which takes about 4 coins before you have to release them via pressing the 'Change' button to get them out.
  • card - you insert the card into the chip & pin machine and enter your pin!

The supermarket itself is quite robust, Summer has moved it around quite a bit, played with it every day and it still standing solid.  It's a nice size too, not too big, and not too small, it fits perfectly in the play room. It looks really cool too:

The Casdon Self-Service Supermarket has an RRP of £39.99, it is suitable for children aged 3+ and requires 3xAA batteries (which are not included).
