Centre Parcs -Family Holiday 2015
Centre Parcs Longleat
This summer, instead of chasing the typical hot weather, white beaches, and poolside sun lounges, our family found something even better - a staycation nestled in the heart of Wiltshire's stunning woodlands. While we may have missed out on sunbathing and lounging around, we were surrounded by breathtaking scenery, vibrant wildlife, and the invigorating outdoors of Great Britain.
Originally, we had planned a vacation to Tunisia, but with the tragic events in Sousse, it was understandably cancelled. We considered changing destinations, but the high costs and lack of enthusiasm for travelling abroad led us to choose a staycation instead. We put the extra funds towards home renovations, including redecorating our children's rooms, and treated ourselves to a week at the beautiful Centre Parcs.
Unfortunately, our oldest teenage son opted to stay home with his half-sister and her partner. However, my husband and I, along with our other children, had a fantastic time at Centre Parcs (apart from missing my oldest),.
Our kids were thrilled with the endless activities and entertainment, which was all that mattered to us as parents.
Our days were filled with invigorating walks and refreshing swims, and even though we had initially planned to explore the many tourist attractions in Wiltshire, we found ourselves content and occupied within the Centre Parcs grounds.
We only ventured out on one day.
We couldn't resist exploring the renowned Longleat Safari Park, which we had been longing to visit for years. And, it was as amazing as I wanted it to be. It definitely lived up to our expectations and left us wanting more. We're already planning our return trip for next year - an experience not to be missed for any family looking for a unique and memorable getaway.
As we were checking into our villa, I looked out the window and spotted two deers. The kids loved it, the deers were relaxing near our lodge and we watched them for a couple of hours - one even came right near our window and grazed.
We fed the squirrels every morning - there were quite a few that visited us throughout the week.
We spent hours walking, we went out in the morning and didn't return to the villa until late in the evening most days - Longleat Center Parcs is very hilly, so we got lots of exercise. There was a land train, but the kids preferred to walk.
During our walks each day we would we visited the many different play parks.
The kids love crazy golf, and we spent a good hour trying to master the indoors crazy golf - Summer got a bit bored..
We loved the woodlands walks.
Lewis completed the indoor wall climbing, he found it very challenging, but thoroughly enjoyed it - I was really proud of him as normally he doesn't like to do anything that involves heights etc. Jacob, decided not to do it himself, but he said next time he will.
We couldn't leave our villa without having a BBQ, even under an umbrella - in the typical British 'August' weather, of course, it rained.
The week went far too quickly, we had an active, fun, relaxing time and we can't wait to return.
