The Owl and the Pussy-cat

The Owl and the Pussy-catEdward Lear's famous classic poem, beautifully illustrated in watercolour paintings by Charlotte Voake, and introduced with a foreword by the Gruffalo author, Julia Donaldson. A touching tale that I love and enjoy reading to Jacob and Summer.

The Owl and the Pussycat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.

The Further Adventures of The Owl and the Pussy-cat: Julia Donaldson sequel to the Owl and the Pussy-cat, and the whole format of this book respects and reflects true to the original.  A story delivered through rhyme and beautifully illustrated watercolours.

The Owl and the Pussy-cat must travel far from the safety of the Bong-tree glade in search for the thief that stolen their beautiful golden ring, They journey across the sea, to the Chankly Bore and more.

Included in The Further Adventures of The Owl and the Pussy-cat is a CD featuring two readings of the story by the author, as well as a performance of the story set to music. The CD compliments the book and is a lovely addition.

Both these books are timeless classics which I will continue to read to both Jacob and Summer again and again, and as long as they want me to read it to them. Jacob often attempts to read it himself, using the illustrations and memory to capture his own story. Both books are very enjoyable.
