Review: Football Storybook by Penwizard

Jacob plays for England

This is our second review for Penwizard's personalised children's books, and this time we got to review the Football story book.

Jacob wins a competition to meet his favourite football team and cannot believe his luck when he is allowed to watch the semi-final from the bench. When no subs are available to replace an injured player, Jacob helps his team win and reach the final! Jacob is thrilled to be named in the starting line up for the final – but will he hold his nerve and score the winning goal?

As with all Penwizrd books you can tailor the character of the book to look like your child, and this is done with the personalisation options available.
Personalisation available :

  • First name and surname
  • Hairstyle, colour and skin tone
  • Optional adult facial features
  • Favourite team name and kit colours
  • Two favourite players
  • Team manager

I chose England as the team name and colours for two reasons: one of Jacob's brothers supports Arsenal, and the other brother and his dad support Chelsea, so depending on who is in Jacob's good-books, Jacob follows which ever brother and supports that team - between Arsenal and Chelsea most days, so I thought the safest option was to pick England.  The second reason is due to the excitement around the current world cup.

What was also a nice touch with this book is you can add a personal message, which is printed on the first page:  Jacob the superstar with his magic left foot.

The book is a softback one with 24 coloured pages, and it is beautifully presented with clear and crisp illustrations.  With the  use of Jacob's name as well as players and the team coach of his team - we used his brothers names for the other players and his dad as the team coach - bringing the family into the story was so much fun  and it captured Jacob's attention and imagination.

Currently on special offer at £9.99 and a small delivery cost of £2.50.

This is a perfect gift for any little football fans, even older kids - I am thinking of getting one for my teenage son as a light-hearted present for Christmas - he is a big Arsenal fan.

Look at that grin, that is one happy little boy with his new book, which he is the star in.
