Heroes of the City

is an App with fun content designed to target children aged between 3 to 7 years old, and it is based on a popular television series Heroes of the City, created by Ruta Ett DVD AB.

We were invited to review the Heroes of City Movie App, which I jumped at as I knew this would be a hit with Jacob, he likes to watch movies and play games on his iPad.  We received the link and downloaded the App on to the iPad, and immediately Jacob started to watch the movies (roughly 14 minutes length per movie), he was engrossed whilst I cleaned and didn't move until I told him he had been on it long enough and needed a break -  Jacob loved the movies and was immediately looking forward to watching the rest.  The following day we discovered the games, and again the games captured Jacob's attention and concentration, and with 9 different games, he has been busy swapping and trying each one.

The App includes:

  1. More than six hours of entertaining movies - 26 in total!

  2. Nine fun packed games: Puzzle, catch the butterflies, colour in templates, Fire Engine -put the fires out, collect the stars, whack-a-mole, fling the bird, build a train track, and match pairs.

  3. With the games you can collect trophies to unlock a surprise!

  4. A store for add on purchases.

And if you have Apple TV you can stream the app and watch the movies on your TV.

More about the characters:

  • The rescue vehicles - Pauli the Police Car and Fiona the Fire Engine - they help find thieves, or they put out fires, and solve crimes delivering the message of safety and the importance of helping. You also have Calamity Crow who is a bird, Harry Hot Rod,  Percy Post who delivers the post, Hector the Helicopter,  and finally The Tractor, The Seaplane, The Tow Truck,  The Scooter, The Digger, The Fishing Boat, The Train, and The Garbage Truck. A large array of characters that delivers the message of friendship, and how working together and helping others is important.

This App and others from the Heroes of City range are available on iPhone/iPad and Google Play (click for direct links). The App also has the function to switch between different languages: English, Swedish, Russian, Polish, Thai, Korean, Dutch, Italian, Czech and Hungarian.

Verdict - With thousands of children Apps out there, it is sometimes hard to find one that is rich in contents, fun, with high quality animation, one where the characters are engaging and finally one that will keep your children entertained for hours - I found that Heroes of the City Movie App has all this. This is a must have App.
