Back to School and One at College

After a super school holiday (we squeezed loads of fun stuff in), with some bumps and bruises along the way, the kids are back into school and so far so good they seem settled and content.

No big changes for Lewis or Jacob, both are returning to their schools, Jacob has the same teacher, Lewis has a new school uniform, but no major changes - apart from the new tough no phone policy, which means he has to leave his phone at home, otherwise the school confiscates it and a parent has to come and pick it up - which I think is good - but it's a contrast from a couple of years ago where each pupil was supplied with an iPad (year later it was removed) to this year now no tech in classes unless organized by the teacher.

On the other hand, Summer started full-time school where she started her reception year. She went to Nursery at the same school, which meant she got to move up with all of her nursery friends, which has given her a smoother transition. We've not had any tears yet, but lots of cuddles and 'I'll miss you'.

Liam started college and seems pretty happy with it. It's always a big milestone when leaving school and moving on to the next chapter in his life, and he's enjoying it and the new environment. This time last year I remember thinking about his GCSEs coming up, the mocks first then the exams - it seems like yesterday, and now all of a sudden, he is a young adult, and going to college.

For me, I come home to an empty house, kids at school hubby at work, just the pets and me. And, whilst I enjoy it, I find it hard.  I get on with my work, but on the forefront of my mind is how empty the house is, how quiet it is, how I'm missing the kids....   I'm the one that is finding it hard to settle, and after 2 weeks it's not getting any better.
