Review: Dettol Antibacterial Laundry Cleanser

Dettol's mission for health.

Did you know that 96% of parents wash their household laundry on 40°C (I am one), however did you also know that any washing done below 60°C means bacteria on laundry can survive - and the bacteria can even spread from garment to garment.

When Dettol carried out some research to evaluate the levels of bacteria found on children's clothing they found after a 40°C wash that the level of bacteria was quite high, in fact only 14% less than if it hadn't been washed in the first place, and the top 10 most 'germy' items ranged from baby grows to t-shirts to socks. So this is where Dettol comes in, they have created a product that will eliminate 99,9% bacteria; killing germs and viruses, thus creating a more healthy environment within your laundry.

Dettol is a brand I recgonise and trust, a household name, though I have never used their laundry cleanser, so when I was offered to review it I was very keen.  With 4 children, 1 dog, 2 cats and a bearded lizard, using a laundry product that kills 99,9% of bacteria, even at low temperature is very appealing to me.

Directions: Just pour 2 capfuls into the fabric softener drawer of your washing machine.

My experience: We have been using Dettol antibacterial laundry cleanser for two weeks now, in replacement of laundry softener, and for me it is the added piece of mind of keeping the kids laundry free from germs that I appreciate. The smell of the laundry cleanser is a pleasant 'fresh' one, and the garments smelt clean and crisp. So if you are like me and wash at 40°C I would recommend using Dettol antibacterial laundry cleanser
