I enjoy doing puzzles with the kids. You sit together and take on the challenge together, but I love watching them as they get encouraged each time they solve a part and the excitement when the puzzle comes together. It's great fun, and of course, puzzles offer many educational skills too.

Sssh, sssh, sssh. I'm Wissper. I can talk to you.
Summer adores Wissper. She watches the animated TV series and was super excited to receive the Wissper & Peggy Doll Set for review.
Wissper is a kind 7-year girl who is able to talk to animals. The animals always go to Wissper for help. She can magically transport herself to anywhere there is an animal in danger by saying the magic word “Sssshhh…” She is very caring of all the animals but she can get cross if they misbehave!Read More
It was British Science Week last week and we love to get involved - science is a fascinating interactive subject that encourages fun experience and learning. Both Summer and Jacob love anything to do with science. To celebrate, Wild! Science sent us their Perfume Factory set.
Included in the box:
Summer loves to watch and copy me clean the house. She enjoys to get involved and 'help', however, it's not always safe to allow them to handle the household cleaners. But, with Casdon's Henry range of children toys, it gives Summer the perfect opportunity to help me 'clean'. The kids' range is Inspired by the iconic Henry hoover brand, a brand which is easily recognisable, fun and used throughout homes and offices all over the country.
For this review, we received the Henry Mop & Bucket set.Read More

Summer loves Doc McStuffins, she watches the TV series on Disney, and she loves the toys too. We were kindly sent the Accessory Set and the Hospital Role Playset for review. Both are great fun and an excellent to encourage role play.
Dottie ‘Doc’ McStuffins is the six-year-old character who fixes toys with a little help from her stuffed animal friends – and your little ones probably know all about her! On the TV, Doc now resides in McStuffinsville where she is Chief Resident at the Toy Hospital.Read More
World Book Day 2017 was celebrated on the 2nd of March, however, at Summer's and Jacob's school it was celebrated a day later, today, the 3rd March - really not sure why, but, still really pleased they got involved this year as previous years they haven't.
I'm a big bookie, always have been, I think I got it from my mum. And, I encourage my kids to read too. Reading is great!Read More
We received the Schleich Farm World Starter Set for review. This beautiful set of farm animals includes: a cow, a sheep, a donkey and a cockerel.
We love Schleich toys, we have a few figures from a previous review and also from when my oldest two were little. The great thing about Schleich is they've kept in perfect condition after all these years. The quality of each figure is amazing. Each piece is finely painted with all the features, which make them irresistible to kids (and adults) and they are very collectable.Read More
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt follows the family on their adventure as they come up against a host of obstacles and battle through whirling snowstorms, thick oozing mud and dark forests on their ambitious quest. But when Rosie and Rufus become detached from the rest of the party it looks like bear-hunting might not be such fun after all…
"squelch, squerch", "swishy swashy", "hoo woo"
We're Going on a Bear is a classic children's picture book and it has been brought to live with the DVD release, an animated special We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.
Produced by the makers of the hugely popular The Snowman and The Snowdog and featuring a stellar cast and beautiful animation, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt will enchant fans old and new.
The heart-warming special expands the world of the book and features the voices of Olivia Colman, Pam Ferris and Mark Williams as brand new characters Mum, Grandma and Dad. Author Michael Rosen also makes an appearance as the Bear. The film also features a brand new song entitles Me & You specially composed by British singer-songwriter George Ezra.
Summer was super excited when we received the DVD, it's her favourite book from school, and she recites many parts of the story. She couldn't wait to watch it on DVD and when she did, she fell in love with it - she's watched it many, many times since. It's a short 30-minute DVD, and is beautifully produced.
Available on DVD from Monday 6th February.
To celebrate the release of the lovely new DVD, we were sent a box of lovely goodies, for a Twitter party. We invited a few friends round and had 2-hours of Bear Hunt fun!
We played Pin the Tail on the bear.
We watched the DVD together, ate popcorn.
We made some 'beartastic' cookies.
We cut out and wore 'bear' ears.
We were supplied with lots of prizes, and the kids took home a lovely goody bag at the end.

Last week, leading up to half-term the kids were ill, one after the other. It wasn't very nice, I hate seeing them poorly - the kids feel like rubbish and I'm stressed out about them feeling like rubbish. I just want to make it better.Read More
When the kids watch TV there are a small select few cartoons that I don't begrudge watching with the kids. One of them is Spongebob - who doesn't love Spongebob?! It's a positive, happy, fun cartoon, with a comedy edge, that gives you lots of laughter. You can't help but feel cheery after watching an episode.
We've been a Spongebob fan from the start. From when my 17 year old started watching it 10 years ago, to my youngest 7 year old son who watches it now.Read More

2016 for us as a family was about discovering our newly found love of the outdoors. We've never been an outdoors family, and we would avoid it in cold or wet weather. But that changed last year! Now, we love the outdoors and every weekend we make sure we get outside, taking the kids and the dogs. Thus, with the cold months, we need good outdoor gear, to keep us dry and warm. So when Mountain Warehouse invited us to review some items from their Steve Backshall range, we were super excited.Read More
Glimmies™ fairy dolls light up magically when it gets dark, when the sun comes up they will stop glowing. Each Glimmie has its own unique character, symbol and styling.
Glimmies™ are star fairies sent by the moon to take care of “Glimmieswood” forest animals. This is the reason why Glimmies™ have cute resemblances to forest animals and love endless adventures in the name of friendship and always respect nature. There are 23 in total, each Glimmie glows (lights up). There is a switch on the back of the Glimmie head where you can turn it on and off, and it will light up automatically.
Summer loves collectables and she loves fairies, so I knew she would love Glimmies™. They are small, at 6cm and perfect to fit in little ones hands and pockets. They glow which makes them so much more sweeter and appealing.
There are 16 Glimmies™ available across single and triple packs, and 7 exclusive to playsets. Each one represents a forest animal with its own distinctive colour and facial expression.
Summer adores Glimmies, she even takes them to her bed and keeps them under her pillow - she loves how they glow and keeps them close to her.
They are so adorable. I might get myself a couple. (I'm such a kid sometimes).
Disney’s The Lion Guard is a fun animated series based around Kion, son of Simba and Nala. Kion leads the Lion Guard, a team of animals who's job is to protect the Pride Lands. To compliment this new series Flair have released a range of toys, like the Defend the Pride Lands play set, which we reviewed a few months ago, and most recently we were kindly sent The Hyena Hideout Playset for review.
The Hyena Hideout Playset features a pull-down branch, which will close the bone jaw jail, or pull down on another branch to launch the boulder. When the boulder collides with the tree, the tree breaks apart on impact, but if the boulder rolls in the other direction the teetering rock bridge will collapse.
This toy is great fun, and encourages little ones to use their imagination. They can recreate scenes from their favourite episodes, or simply create their own scenes.
Hyena Hideout Playset would make a great gift and give hours of fun.
Novasol Holiday Homes offer a massive 44,000 properties in 29 European Countries! With over 50 years experience in self-catered holiday home rentals, prices starting from just £299 per property per week. They not only offer excellent value but an excellent range and variety too. There is a holiday home for everyone!
Novasol sent me a big box of Novasol goodies, along with a presentation and quiz (and prizes for the quiz); everything I needed for me to host a fun-filled quiz afternoon with some friends. (I put on a lovely lunch spread too)
We sat down and went through the presentation, of some fascinating facts about Europe during and what Novasol has to offer. Afterwards we then each took a quiz with the quiz paper. Some of the questions were pretty tricky. (we didn't cheat too much - maybe a little)
There were plenty of prizes, so everyone went home with more than one! Each prize represented a country - for example, Pasta from Italy, vodka from Sweden, chocolate from Belguim and much more. There was also a £20 gift card prize for the overall winner.
Everyone left with a goodie bag which included a Novasol brochure, 10% off discount voucher, mints and a pen!
It was a relaxed fun afternoon; we ate, drank and laughed (especially through the quiz). None of us had heard of Novasol before and was surprised we hadn't, however, we learnt a lot about them during the afternoon and what great options they have available - it was well received.
When we book our next family vacation, I'll definitely be looking at Novasol. Hubby and I have talked about going to Switzerland in the summer and a villa would be perfect for us.
