I work from home as a Project Manager, thus I’m not exactly the kind of person who has a group of work friends, its the little things like the Christmas office parties I miss. But you can take matters into my own hands—or rather, on your phone.

To revive your social life, you need to start actively looking for new people. And, there are a few mobile apps out there that can help.

The apps that are designed to bring people together for platonic purposes, not just for romance.

This is self-explanatory. The advantage of using it on your phone is that you can be notified of nearby events or follow your favorite groups, and know when they’re organizing something. The more you’re notified about social activities, the more likely you’re going to participate in them.

Mush:

A fun, free way for mums to meet local mums with kids the same age. the simple, like-minded mums with kids the same age. It tells you which mums are living in the nearby area and it also says how old their children are.

Meet my dog:

Meet My Dog is a free, private social network for you and your dog. You can find people with pets, get your pet to find new friends, and meet the owners in the process. 

Grip:

Based on Linkedin, this app finds professionals around your location and gives you a chance to connect with them. It’s like a Tinder for professional connections.

Badoo:

A social discovery app, used for meeting and connecting with people, whether that’s for dating or social reasons. This is the largest discovery app with over 311 million users worldwide.
